“Cannabis – Related Disorder
is a clinical/medical issue that when left untreated could lead to significant health and psychological challenges. This becomes most apparent when one’s
life begins to revolve around the use of marijuana and important social and occupational relationships are negatively impacted, often marked by increased
use and significant mood changes.
“In addition, marijuana use may mask physical and psychological challenges causing them to progress to acute care levels. When one suspects that cannabis
may be interfering with either health or social functioning a professional evaluation should be conducted to determine the extent and severity of the
possible disorder.” Bob Lynn, Ed.D.
The American Society of Addiction Medicine describes addiction as “characterized by an inability to consistently abstain, impairment in behavioral control,
craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behavior and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response.”
